- News from featured dApp games

This is a directory of blockchain games (dApps) and also the data about game development studios that created them.

Decentralized gaming is strongest in Asia and most developers are currently located there, including the creator of Crypto Kitties which is the blockchain game that sparked the worldwide interest in this application of distributed ledger technology.

Blockchain games benefit from public blockchains where players have the full custody of their gaming assets - be it the collectible tokens (typically ERC-721 Ethereum standard for nonfungible, unique tokens) or the tokens that serve as in-game money (typically ERC-20 Ethereum standard for fungible tokens). While this has been seen as a vanity matter for outsiders, it is important to realize that online gaming is an industry that was reportedly worth nearly $135 billion in 2018 according to Newzoo.

An industry of this size gains political importance as became obvious when the game studio Blizzard Entertainment attempted to ban a player who supports the Hong Kong protest movement in October 2019.
